Hornblower Appreciation Week

Tomorrow is the first day of Hornblower Appreciation Week!

What does this mean? *g* Just silliness from me. I noticed that I've been neglecting Mr. Hornblower of late in favour of everyone's favourite first lieutenant. Of course I will love Bush for ever and ever amen, but Hornblower was my first crush in the fandom and I love him dearly still! So - a whole week, dedicated solely to Horatio Hornblower himself, just to show my appreciation of him.

All that I can promise is that there will be at least one post each day for a week that focusses somehow on Hornblower *g* Anything from a random declaration of love to ficlets to icons to book or movie squee to anything at all! It all depends on how much time I have that day and how inspired my muses are.

Feel free to join in on the fun (actually, I'd love it if you wanted to join in!) - the more Hornblower love in the world, the better place it is!

And what excellent timing! If you make the dates of Hornblower Appreciation Week retroactive to include April 2, then it would start on the anniversary of CSF's death. Aaaaaaaaaaand, since the Hornblower series originally aired on A&E in April, it's perfect!

Heh. I say we pimp HAW (*snick*) here and on Horatians. I'll promote it on ScaryFangirl and we can try to make it an annual thing. ;) (Make me a banner to go with my LJ and tell me how to put it up and I'll post it there! LOL!)

Ohh! I had no idea that it was the anniversary of CSF's death (what a bad fangirl) on the 2nd, or that HH orignally aired in April. I came up with the idea a few days ago but picked the 4th to start only because it's the day after my essay was due!

It gets better than that. April 4 was the exact air date for the premiere of The Duel here in the States. Obviously, this was ordained. ;)

Snagged the banner (which will go up on ScaryFangirl at the end of the day), but I was wondering if you might have a larger version of the original (above) that I could put atop my LJ (It 'goes' so well! Oh, and, er, being a relative LJ newbie, if you could e-mail me instructions as to how to get it there, I would be in your debt... *blushes* ).

*g* The coincidences just keep piling up! Hee. Maybe it's a message from Hornblower that I should stop neglecting him :)

Unfortunately, I don't have a larger version of the original at the moment because the images that I made it with were quite small. However, I'm pretty sure I can find the same images at a higher resolution and make the same banner again. And/or, I can make any other banner you'd like (your selection of images), like I made for iansmomesq (eg 1 (http://quietcontrary.livejournal.com/5472.html#cutid1)) and lindsaygirl58 (a href="http://quietcontrary.livejournal.com/5906.html#cutid1">eg 2) for you to put up on your LJ. As for putting up the banner - I'm most familar with the Flexible Ssquares layout that I have, and I know iansmomesq knows how to put up a banner in 3 Column. I'm not familiar with Nebula (your layout style) but I'm more than willing to give it a try in the morning! :D (But how attached are you to your current layout/colour scheme?) The options for customising an s2 layout in LJ are pretty powerful, as long as you know your way around their layers - I'm still a newbie at it, I'm afraid!
