I like fandom. I like real life, too. Real life posts are locked by
filters to various degrees, based on how private, inane, TMI or just
plain boring they are. Fandom posts are public.

My main fandom right now is Magnificent Seven. I like Ezra Standish. I like his
cynicism and tendency to be a smart-arse. I like the contrast between
independence and vulnerability, loner and friend. I like Old West but have a
special soft spot for ATF AUs.

Fandoms that I have been involved in but am less involved in these days include
Burn Notice, Numb3rs, Lost, Hornblower, PotC, LotR and Discworld.

In fandom, I love hurt/comfort, strong characters who don't know when
to give up, snark, talent, angst, and, when it's all over and done, a
happy ending. I love stories that are written well. I prefer gen fics,
especially gen fics with amazing plot and character development. I used
to be an avid slash fan, but rarely ever read it these days.

In real life, I like talented people (writers, artists, etc), nice
people, people with a cheerful and quirky outlook and people who are
just genuine and friendly people.

I really don't like emo-ness, drama, fandom-wanking, arguments and the
kind of thoughtless cruelty and mean-spiritedness that can occur on
the net just because people are hidden behind a monitor.

I think the friends list should be renamed the "Aggregated Reading
List for Fandom, Real Life and News". Not really, but I think "friends
list" can be unclear. I add people to my list who: are friends; share
a fandom; seem nice; interest me. I remove people who stop being one
or more of these things (mainly, #2 (http://www.livejournal.com/rsearch/?tags=%232) and #4 (http://www.livejournal.com/rsearch/?tags=%234)). I expect that you do the
same.
